Mark Shapiro and Andrea Shapiro are a husband-wife team known as Shapiro Writers.

They have written works for theater as well as fiction.

Mark Shapiro was raised on the island of Guam where he worked as a journalist before becoming a lobbyist on Capitol Hill. He studied advanced playwriting at HB Studio in New York under the late actor/director Herbert Berghof. His drama, The Shattering, opened Off-Broadway, as did Retribution, a post-Holocaust thriller based on Daniel Stern's award-winning novel Who Shall Live, Who Shall Die, starring Golden Globe recipient Dennis Christopher.

Andrea Shapiro (as Andrea Liebert) earned her Actor's Equity card in 1990 with stints at Tennessee Rep. and the Delaware Theatre Company. In addition to writing musicals, Andrea has penned novels for middle grade and young adult readers, as well as non-fiction picture books, including Two Thousand Miles To Happy published this year.
